INTEGRATION PROJECT AND FINAL NEWS LETTER  around early June, i completed my two year mission service in sierra Leone and traveled back to Zambia where i started my two months integration project with the Zambia united Methodist annual conference youths that i am completing on Friday the 31st of august. When i started my GMF journey in 2021 i was full of energy and was ready to serve.I expected to face challenges in a different ways, but i ended up facing them differently, some of the challenges included difficulties in dealing with people from a different culture, different ways of worship and many more, at times the challenges slowed my work down but every time i faced them i always went back and reflected on the first bible verse i learnt from Sunday school John 3:16 . this verse always reminded me of how much of God's love i have experienced in my life through his people, starting from my family to strangers i never expected to get lo

highlights of my commioning and updates on my mission work

around early June, I and my fellow global mission fellows from the Africa region traveled to Cot devoir where we were commissioned together with four Global missionaries, by the bishop of the ivory coast united Methodist annual conference and Reverenced Judy Chang. this was the first time I got to meet most of my coworkers in person, although I had seen some of them at Africa university we never talked and got to know each other. we shared a lot of great experiences. during our commissioning, a lot of things stood out to me. but what stood out to me most was the Wesleyan covenant prayer. “ I am no longer my own, but yours. Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you, Praised for you or criticized for you. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service. And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creat

Training on nutrition and gardening in preparation for this years rainy season

this year's rainy season is has already started, we started getting our first rains around mid may. In preparation for the season we carried out a training on nutrition and vegetable gardening. we visited two communities that are located approximately 250Km from the town where i stay, it took us two days to cover the two communities that we targeted. the training was successful though we had a bit of transport challenges but thanks be to God we made it there and came back home safe , at some point we crossed a big river on a canoe boat to get to our last village. i conducted the training and the field officer and my supervisor from village to village federation helped with the translation.    we posed for a group picture at the end of our training session, it was really an amazing experience, i learnt quiet a few things about the peoples culture because i conducted the training in a way that almost everyone was able to participate through contributions of their knowledge and what t

last time i posted a photo where i was making a fence for my garden. By Gods grace  the garden is finally doing alright, I am still facing a few challenges the biggest challenge i have is water. with the fact that i am doing gardening in a tropical region, there is high rate of evaporation and its very hard for the ground to retain water due to excess heat.  this is a picture of my maize in its early days  I started with a few crops which included okra, cucumbers sweet potatoes and krain krain which is a sierra Leone local vegetable. i am planning on using the garden as a teaching platform for agriculture to the local community by inviting the facilitators from different communities that partner with village to village federation as soon as I introduce new crops that are not in the region. some of the crops i want to introduce include swish chard, Chinese cabbage, a different variety of maize and tomatoes. and by so doing i hope to improve and balance peoples diet

I have been quite busy in the last couple of weeks, I have been working on my fencing my back yard garden, and getting the ground ready for planting. it was not as easy as I anticipated it would be, I had a lot of challenges with the tools and am I will still be facing these challenges. but at the same time I am glad that I managed to construct the fence to keep away our peoples livestock from getting inside. at the beginning of the week I managed to plant some cucumber seeds, tomato, okra .potato leaves vines and some other two sierra Leone local vegetables. the garden is something very strange to the community people in the area that I am staying in.  I used some wooden poles and timber for fencing to prevent the peoples sheep and goats from getting inside because at this time of the year they are allowed to move  around freely.  i am still working on getting the some more seeds to plant. thank you for keeping me in your prayers, if you wish to make a donation to my mission work, yo

I have been I sierra Leone for close to four months now, working with village to village federation gives me an opportunity to visit places and communities that most people would not want to visit. Working with the local people reminds me of my own community back in Zambia. i have always known that people already have the resources to use for their life transformation. all they need is a little push and motivation to build their confidence in what they are doing.  in the few months I have been in sierra Leone, I have spent most of the time for my work purpose, I  traveled to two different communities on a bike. The transport system here is not up to standards compared to Zambia, but by the grace of God i always make it to the communities. in the picture below i was in the middle of a forest going to one of the communities we work with to conduct a training on sex abuse and gender based violence to some of the local girls we support in school. this experience reminds me of the global m
